Anti-Aging Cream: when to start using it?

Anti-aging creams have become increasingly popular in recent years. On social media, we see influencers of all kinds praising creams that combat skin aging every day. However, a doubt arises spontaneously: should I start using anti-aging creams right away? Is there a right age to start applying them consistently?
Continue reading to discover more about anti-aging creams and the right time to start applying them.
Anti-aging cream: at what age does our skin start to age?
A naturally smooth and hydrated skin is possible until the age of 20. Starting from this milestone, in fact, our body gradually begins to reduce its ability to produce collagen, the element responsible for the firmness of the skin, and it is at this point that we start to talk about skin aging. The scarcity of collagen indeed causes the appearance of fine lines caused precisely by the passage of time.
Between the ages of 20 and 30 is therefore the right time to start taking much better care of your skin to prevent skin aging and combat the first signs that appear on our face.
Which anti-aging cream to choose?
To combat skin aging, the secret is HYDRATION. A hydrated skin is also an elastic skin, capable of "wrinkling" and returning to smooth without causing the appearance of unsightly marks. For this reason, an anti-aging cream is, first and foremost, a moisturizing cream.
The hydration that the skin needs, however, is not the same for everyone. The right cream for you is therefore different based on the needs dictated by your skin type. It goes without saying that dry skin will need a rich, thick, and nourishing cream. In the case of oily skin, however, applying a cream that is too rich could be counterproductive, overloading it and risking clogging the pores. The risk is waking up in the morning with a few more imperfections and with skin that will shine more easily throughout the day.
Regardless of skin type, however, it is important to know that due to its thicker nature, the use of an anti-aging cream is more suitable for the evening, before going to sleep. This way, even if our skin may seem more "oily" at the moment, it won't be a problem, and in the morning we can wake up with much firmer, lifted, and hydrated skin.
Preventing skin aging: not just anti-aging cream
But is anti-aging cream really the only solution for younger-looking skin for longer? The answer is no. In fact, there are other essential measures to maintain more elastic skin over time. An important measure is to apply a cream containing SPF daily. Even when we don't see them, UVA and UVB rays are lurking, and if our skin is not adequately protected, over time it could lead to a deterioration of the skin.
Another important factor not to forget is to drink enough water throughout the day. Hydration, even from the inside, is indeed essential for the proper functioning of our entire body, but also for softer and younger-looking skin in the long run.
In summary, we can say that the best time to start applying anti-aging products on your skin is around the age of 20, provided that the chosen cream truly meets the specific needs of your skin type.
